Claims Manager

About the position

With a view to beefing up capacity in our claims department in response to the exponential business growth registered since our entry into the Market, we seek to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic, talented, qualified and experienced individual willing to join the team in the role of Claims Manager reporting into the General Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership and motivation of all staff in the claims department through coaching, mentorship and skills transfer
• Overall oversight of the claims function to deliver excellent service to our valued clients in adherence to the claims service charter
• Ensuring full implementation of our claims policy and procedures in the department
• Maximizing claims recoveries from reinsurers and through subrogation
• Creating and Maintaining good business relationships with all claims service providers. This includes vetting each service provider and signing a service level agreement with each provider
• Internal and external reporting relating to claims including statutory returns to the IRA and other bodies/industry associations
• Representing the company at claims-related market events
• Liaising with the underwriting manager to share feedback with a view to early identification of claims trends

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Bachelors Degree in Business, Law or any other related field
• Professional Insurance Qualification at a Minimum of Diploma in Insurance level (DIP CII or DIP ITC) or its equivalent
• Proven numerical, analytical, negotiation and communication skills
• High Level of Personal and Professional Integrity
• Ability to work well under pressure and with minimum supervision
• At least Five (5) years of relevant working experience
